A woman has died and a man remains in hospital after shark attack at Crowdy Bay
It's believed the pair were visiting from Switzerland.
A 25-year-old woman has died and a 26-year-old man remains in hospital following a shark attack at Crowdy Bay National Park yesterday morning.
Around 6:30am on Thursday, emergency services were called to a beach near Kylies Beach Campground after reports two people had been bitten by a shark.
Witnesses assisted the pair – believed to be visiting from Switzerland – prior to the arrival of paramedics.
The woman died at the scene and the 26-year-old man sustained serious injuries. He was airlifted to John Hunter Hospital where he remains in a serious but stable condition.
The beach remains closed. The woman is yet to be formally identified.
A report will be prepared for the Coroner.
