Word on the street: Coffs Harbour resident says being prepared for bushfires and floods are a part of life on the MNC
Sue's not concerned about the next severe weather event, because it will happen regardless, but she is prepared for it.

This year alone, the Mid North Coast has been impacted by ex-tropical cyclone Alfred in March followed by record-breaking floods in May.
We’ve been taking to the streets to ask residents about living in the region. On a sunny day in June, we spoke with some people on the Coffs Harbour Marina Walkway, and asked whether or not they were concerned about the next bushfire or flood.
One resident told us she isn’t concerned, but she is prepared for it.
“Bushfires are always a hazard,” Sue told the Mid North Coaster.
“It'll happen regardless whether you're concerned or not, but it's got to be prepared for it. It's the same as the floods,” she said.
“What's the point in worrying about it? It's going to happen.”
Sue said the main aim is to save yourself.
“To hell with everything else. Things are only belongings, and everyone gets rid of belongings and gain new ones. You can't do that with your life.”
Scientists say burning coal, oil, and gas is supercharging extreme weather – and that rising global temperatures are making the atmosphere warmer, wetter and more energetic, causing flooding and bushfires to become more intense.
