WATCH: Disaster recovery updates while support continues across the region
Hear from Kempsey Shire mayor and the regional Recovery Coordinator.

Flood recovery continues across the Mid North Coast as we enter bushfire danger season.
I recently met with Kempsey Shire mayor, Kinne Ring, who told me floods are a part of the way of life in the LGA.
“As a community that lives on a flood plain we know it’s not if it’s going to flood again, it’s when,” Ring said.
She stressed the importance of being prepared for the next disaster to hit the region, including attending bushfire preparedness events.
I also spoke to Susie George, Executive Director of Regional Delivery for the NSW Reconstruction Authority. George is transitioning to Regional Recovery Coordinator.
She told me there’s been 14,450 people go through the recovery centres recently, and after the May flood event, 370,000 tonnes of waste removed across the region.
There are various support packages still available. If you are need help call Service NSW on 1300 77 88.
