Flood watch: Severe weather warning for the Mid North Coast

Heavy rainfall predicted and damaging winds are predicted for the Mid North Coast this week.

The Mid North Coast is on Flood Watch with multiple days of prolonged moderate to heavy rainfall expected from Monday.

The Mid North Coast, and Hunter, have the strongest rainfall forecast by the Bureau of Meteorology –  up to 130mm in 24 hours considered “likely”, and up to 200mm is possible in some areas.

This could lead to minor, moderate and flash flooding. Catchments likely to be affected across the Mid North Coast include:

  • Bellinger and Kalang Rivers

  • Nambucca River

  • Macleay River

  • Hastings River

  • Camden Haven River

  • Manning and Gloucester Rivers

  • Myall River

Along with heavy rainfall, strong winds and dangerous surf are also predicted with damaging wind gusts of around 90km per hour expected along the coastline.

The severe weather warning covers an area south of Bulahdelah to just north of Nambucca Heads.
