There's an old church up for grabs for $200k, but there's a catch
Another historic building in Willawarrin is on the market.

The catch comes right at the bottom of the real estate listing.
“There is no sewer or septic connected to this property,” states the agent’s description of the former Anglican church that is on the market for a measly $200,000.
On the upside, power and water are connected, and aerial photos appear to show an outside loo.
The modest property, on a 556-square-metre block, is at 47 Main Street in the village of Willawarrin, 30 kilometres west of Kempsey.
Phil Lee from Macleay River Historical Society told the Mid North Coaster the St Thomas Anglican Church was built in 1959 by Bill Lee on land donated by Raymond Dew.
The listing describes the building as being in “fantastic condition with timber floors and ornate features”.
The nave - or main part of the church - has wood panelling and multiple windows and leads via an arch to a slightly raised level (the chancel or sanctuary). A kitchen runs off the nave.
The listing states: “Zoned RU5, the layout would lend itself to a shop, art gallery, museum or even a lovely unique home (STCA).”
According to Domain the property sold in 2018 for $50,000. After being listed for nearly a year it sold in November 2021 for $120,000. It has been on the market for 180 days.
