👋 Welcome to all our new subscribers, and thanks to everyone for reading!

🌡️ Hoo boy! Has it been hot this week!? I hope you’ve all been able to find reprieve in fans, AC, shade – or better yet, the ocean – during the steamier parts of the day.
I’m currently working on an article about how the MNC prepares for heat waves (consider it inspiration), so keep an eye out for that story later today.
On Wednesday, I met with Member for Coffs Harbour and newly elected NSW Nationals leader, Gurmesh Singh, to find out what’s important to him and about his future plans.
I asked him for his position on regional healthcare funding, Net Zero targets and MNC master plans, among other things. Keep an eye out for those video interviews coming soon.
Afterwards, I made my way to Woolgoolga to ask Woopi locals about holiday traditions – like their favourite songs for this time of year and what must be on the table come Christmas lunch. I’m looking forward to sharing their answers in the near future.
But for now, as we creep up to a new month and celebration season, I’ve created yet another list of events happening across the region in December – including Christmas festivities, art exhibitions, live performances and more.

In sad news this week, a woman was killed and a man seriously injured after a shark attack near Kylies Beach Campground at Crowdy Bay National Park.
The man and a woman, international tourists aged in their 20s, were swimming at Crowdy Bay near Kylies Beach campground at about 6:30am on Thursday when they were attacked by a shark.
Experts believe the shark involved was a bull shark.
Despite the help of witnesses on the beach, the woman died at the scene before paramedics arrived.
A bystander used a makeshift tourniquet on the male’s leg. He was treated by paramedics and airlifted to John Hunter Hospital in a critical condition.
The woman is yet to be formally identified. Beaches in the area and further north of the incident have been closed.
